It’s high time Americans regained their vision so they can see and stop the damage

If thine eye offend thee…

If thine eye offend thee…
In the book of Matthew (18:9), it states, “If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter life with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hellfire.” It seems to me that many Americans have plucked out both their eyes and cast them away, given that many seem unable to see the precipitous cliff for which we are heading.
Let’s start with the concept of “white privilege.” There is an entire generation of young people who have been convinced by their pied piper professors that they have advanced themselves through life with some invisible force innate to their whiteness. They are actively encouraged to feel guilt about others who are less fortunate and thus somehow, nobler and better. Most kids graduate high school with absolutely no knowledge of history, or inaccurate knowledge at best. They are spoon-fed what essentially amounts to lies about how Western Civilization came about and made to feel responsible for the bad deeds of their ancestors, as if they were somehow complicit in slavery, racism or genocide. Their understanding of government has been corrupted to where they believe that that government is an omnipotent force to which its citizens are beholden. This is a form of blindness that allows Barack Obama, for instance to claim that racism in America is “deeply rooted,” as if there were klansmen lurking under every rock. But think about the absurdity of a black man who was elected to the highest office in the land by a majority of its citizens, then claiming that those very citizens are racist. I’m sure there is racism in America. I’m also sure that racism, contrary to what liberals may assert, isn’t just a disease that white people contract. Racism is alive and well in every community, including African, Asian and American aboriginal communities. And I maintain that the President’s statement is frankly racist, as he makes a sweeping generalization about an experience that I believe he has never had.

Fueling dissention

His words fuel the flames of dissention and invite civil unrest, as is currently taking place in a number of American communities. Contrary to what people like Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder, imply there are no police departments in America today that actively seek to murder black youths. It is patently racist on the part of Holder to foster this conceit and what’s more, one wonders why it took 6 years for him to “discover” such institutional racism. There’s no denying that racism was an institution in many parts of America until the late 1960s. But Americans saw the injustice and demanded change, as in the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which I would like to point out, the President’s own party fought tooth and nail.

Obama, America’s largest slave owner

The President is currently the largest slaveholder in America. His “social assistance” programs condemn its participants to a life of poverty, as it discourages self-reliance. But then self-reliance isn’t something the President values, as he has made abundantly clear on many occasions. Here’s another example of blindness. There are more individuals on welfare in the US than working. This assertion isn’t made up out of whole cloth, but comes from the US Government’s own Census Bureau, which in 2012 determined over 109,631,000 Americans were receiving government assistance. That, by the way, is more than the number of Americans working (103,087,000). The fact that these conditions are seen as relatively “normal” is proof that Americans have lost their ability to see.

Noble savages?

More blindness is evident in how we view America’s aboriginals. Somehow, many Americans have swallowed the pabulum that America’s aboriginals, were “noble savages” who lived in harmony with their environment. The fact of the matter is that these so-called noble savages lived under primitive conditions, foraging for food and torturing and killing members of rival tribes on an ongoing basis. They were in part nomadic; because once they killed off all the resources in a particular area they were forced to relocate. Certainly white settlers deceived them and their numbers were decimated, for some to the point of extinction, by disease and warfare. But that’s not something for which those of us living today are responsible. The ethos of that time held that “wild Indians” were anathema to colonizing the New World. This same ethos also maintained that slavery was acceptable until 1863, when Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. America has had its share of ups and downs over the past 238 years. But I believe the current crisis facing this country is on par with the Civil War, in that it could result in the destruction of America. When the government reaches a point where it rules, rather than governs, dissolution of the Union becomes a real possibility. This is especially so in a climate where mindful blindness seems to afflict more than half its citizens. It’s high time Americans regained their vision so they can see and stop the damage.
