Even after the passing of more than two thousand years, the Star of Bethlehem shines as brightly as ever for millions of believers, world wide.

Even with the pharisee politicians of the day, not much different than the ones who harassed the masses back in the time of the Birth of Christ, working feverishly through all seasons to draw their attention away from it, public attention will focus on Christmas Eve, on the only Star who truly matters; the Star not of material things preening on theatre and television screens, but the Star of Souls. “For unto you is born this day...a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11), words in all of time, which no others have ever surpassed. The Star of Bethlehem that led the Three Wise Men to the humble place of Christ’s Birth outlives all kings, politicians who cast kingship upon themselves and all on Earth who ever denied it. All detractors of Christmas are whistling past the cemetery when they overlook the Creator’s ‘anamnesis’ in the human soul, which Father Paul Nicholson reminds us that Pope Benedict described as the Holy Memory that every human being has of their creator. “This memory is hard wired to the three trancendentals: the good; the true; the beautiful,” he said in Sunday’s interview on Vericast.net radio. “We should not be discouraged by the commercialization of Christmas...instead, we should see it as a “holy memory”, a “holy longing for faith”. The most direct route to the Christmas Manger is the one taken by children, whom Christ wants us to be more like. The innocence of the child sees beyond the wiles of secularism, the lure of commercialization. Canada Free Press wishes one and all the Blessed Christmas of a Child; one that will go on from this Christmas keeping the Christmas spirit in your heart all year, and one that will bring you back to next Christmas as the same child. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” -Luke 2:14. Blessed Merry Christmas!
