Why ‘Jihadi John’ did not have a job

Deputy State Department spokeswoman, Marie Harf, became a household name a couple of weeks ago when she took to the airwaves to state the real reason young people become jihadists and flock to join the Islamic State. They do so because they don’t have jobs. If only they could be gainfully employed, they wouldn’t have any wish to join ISIS where they can spend their days beheading, crucifying, burning and otherwise killing people, including babies and children simply because they are Christians, Yazidis, or Muslims who do not agree with their interpretation of Islam.
Harf took a lot of heat but she not only was just doing her job, she was doing it well. She correctly put forth the Obama administration’s position that the Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam. It’s not a leap to suggest Obama and Kerry really believe that Islam has nothing to do with Islam. A lot of information about the head chopper known as “Jihadi John” has surfaced since his true identity was revealed to be Mohammed Emwazi whose family came to the UK from Kuwait. Lacking a job had absolutely nothing whatsoever with Emwazi deciding to join the Islamic State. The reason he didn’t have a job was, he really didn’t need one. His parents didn’t need jobs either; the entire family was well looked after by the British taxpayers. Mohammed’s parents fled their native Kuwait for the UK during the Gulf War in 1990. Four years later, little Mohammed joined them. The family made refugee claims that were accepted in 1996 and they later became citizens. After they became British citizens the family made frequent trips back to Kuwait, the country that was found to have given them a well-founded fear of persecution. The Daily Mail reports, since the family arrived in Britain, they received up to £400,000 (approx. $US 635,373) in benefits. Neither parent had jobs although it is believed the elder Emwazi worked under the table.

Emwazi family: "tenants from hell,” and “parasites

The Westminster City Council is still paying rent on the family’s home that is worth about £600,000 even though Emwazi senior is back in the country he claimed persecuted him and the whereabouts of the rest of the family is unknown. The family is also still receiving about £40,000 a year in government benefits although it is not known whether any of them are still in the UK. A homeowner who once rented to the Emwazis which rent of course was duly paid by the government, described the family as “tenants from hell,” and “parasites.” A couple of Tory MPs have concluded this is outrageous and the payments should be stopped. Ya think? The family’s refugee claim was based upon the fact they were poor and stateless in Kuwait because they are descended from nomads who cannot be granted citizenship. Of course those looking for root causes are using this as an excuse as to why Mohammed joined the Islamic State. It doesn’t seem to matter that he was in Britain from the age of six and given the benefit of a university education among other things. While the United States is, or at least was up to 2008, the land of the free, no doubt Great Britain is the land of the freebee. So you see, Marie, Emwazi did not join the Islamic State because he did not have a job. He didn’t need one. He was a proud member of the family business that consisted of leeching off the state.
