imageOne of the more odious efforts of American business affairs is about to take center stage in the very early days of our new Congress. And as when the word ‘odious’ is associated with business affairs, it can almost always signal that labor unions are involved. Be prepared America for one of the biggest farcical rip-offs ever attempted, even by shoddy union standards. In a brazen effort to flaunt how much corruption there is in today’s relationship between labor unions and politicians, the latter mainly of the party that pretends to be for the ‘working man and his family’ which of course we all know is far from being a truthful platitude; a piece of legislation will be introduced disingenuously titled, “Employee Free Choice Act.”

This laughably known most recent labor union device designed to turn all of America’s union represented businesses into clones of the decrepit and overpaid auto industry labor unions. Just imagine, with passage of that Act, all businesses will be forced to balloon their payrolls with obese pay rates causing a $5 widget to jump to around $10 or $12. just like the auto industry was forced to raise new car rates exorbitantly. You can see to where America’s standing in the world markets will regress. The reason for all this is because the inappropriately named ‘free choice’ act is more like the ‘looking over your shoulder as you vote’ act. It eliminates the secret ballot that has long been an American icon of individualism and privacy. With unbelievable brass, the union brass wants to just hand out cards to a company’s employees and have them check off whether they favor a union or not. How secret is that? And how much intimidation would be lurking in the background when those cards were turned in for totaling? I won’t go into the penalties that would be handed out to those employees voting the “wrong” way, but I’m sure most everyone has heard of those goon squads of thugs that unions employ to force their intentions. Ironically, unions say that secret ballot elections are often manipulated by companies, which disregards the clear fact that the employee votes secretly behind a curtain or other such protection for prying eyes of both companies and union leaders and their staffs. Such rhetoric is pure sham to get sympathy from the public. And who gains from these ham-handed enforcements? The employee will soon gain more in payroll amounts if he or she is in favor with the union bosses; but the big gainers will be those union bosses as larger amounts of dues money pour into their coffers for sub-rosa distribution to themselves. But in time the business they represent will be priced out of the market and a crash is inevitable. Government bailouts are not permanent and infinite saviors; in fact, we may be seeing the last of them very soon, if not already. This union saving piece of legislation is a collaboration with Democrat politicians who were the recipients of much of the union’s largesse, meaning employee dues money, that union leadership considers their private money source to do their bidding and they handed out more than one hundred million dollars to Democrat politicians in this past November’s elections. Now the unions are demanding their payback from the Congressmen and women who benefitted from their generosity, and it is expected they will get it. And shamefully, the new President Barack Obama has pledged to sign it into law. But, an organization called “Save Our Secret Ballot” has come along to help prevent this tragic rip-off of union members’ dues money and maintain some order of sanity for American businesses. This group provides a lot of information as to why we should prevent this Act from being enacted on their website, http://www.sosballot.org and you should check it out for additional information. They cite that among the things America could lose are Freedom from intimidation, as will certainly be the order of the day if the law passes and unions force their intentions on the worker; Freedom of Choice, as an open card will not provide any secrecy and will be an open invitation to exert union influence; and Freedom of conscience, which will be usurped by labor’s ominous presence. A movement is underway by this group to get states to amend state constitutions to protect the right to a secret ballot in ALL elections. Five states are in line to take this action with their state legislatures: Arizona, Arkansas, Missouri with Nevada and Utah following soon. The amendment simply says: “The right of individuals to vote by secret ballot is fundamental. Where state or federal law requires elections for public office or public votes on initiatives or referenda, or designations or authorizations of employee representation, the right of individuals to vote by secret ballot shall be guaranteed.” So even if the federal Act is passed and signed into law by a President Obama, states’ rights will overrule and a secret ballot will be used. But it would be simpler if Congress votes to defeat the proposal. Work with ‘sosballot.org’ to bring this amendment to your state’s constitution. If it passes Congress and is signed into law, who knows where the unions will take it? Would our closed curtain voting for political offices be next?
