Take note, Canada. The Indigenous financial sector is red-hot

Canadian politics is treading some rough waters these days. But there are a few bright spots of consensus where all sides can agree. One of these is around economic reconciliation: the restoration of prosperity to Indigenous communities through creating space and opportunity in the Canadian economy.

We’re falling further behind China in critical minerals

At the time, the opening of a small rare earths mine in the Northwest Territories in 2021 was heralded as an important step in breaking China’s monopoly over this strategic commodity. Rare earths are used in everything from electric vehicles and cell phones to wind turbines and jet engines. China currently extracts more than 60 per cent of rare earth elements and processes as much as 90 per cent of global supply. The case of Vital Metals and the Nechalacho mine show just how far it’s willing to go to maintain a stranglehold on the rare earths market. What was once a hopeful story is now a cautionary tale.

Canada must tackle rising antisemitism and security risks:

The federal government’s plan to allow Palestinians from Gaza to come to Canada presents serious security risks. Despite the screening protocols associated with the temporary measures for Gazans who have relatives in Canada, the prospect of a significant influx of Gazans raises legitimate concerns about the exacerbation of rising antisemitism, the incitement of violence against Jewish Canadians, and the escalation of social unrest.

Validating AI by humanization

Man has a need and a will to create, imitating God's grand Creation, though never being able to attain that divine standard. Artificial intelligence exemplifies that endeavor to create.

Going forward, it's fascinating to see how rapidly artificial intelligence is being given a facelift to look and sound more and more like its inventors.

Pretending It All Works

...the most revolutionary act one can engage in is to tell the truth. — Howard Zinn (one of the few times he spoke truth)

What is truth? — Pontius Pilate, circa 33 AD

Our nation is under siege. Chaos creation continues at an accelerated pace. We are being attacked from multiple directions. Having faced the most powerful nation(s) on earth on multiple occasions in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, we now find ourselves engulfed in unchecked tyranny within our own borders. And yet, we pretend it all works. It's just politics.

America in Turmoil: Here We Are, Waiting for the Shoe to Drop

What is it we are waiting for? Certainly not a shoe. Here we are, waiting for the shoe to drop off. Secretly, we’re waiting for the inevitable collapse of a once wonderful and powerful nation whose government, in the hands of complete nincompoops, shysters, and grifters, people with no verifiable quality of statecraft, petit tyrants who lack the skills or intellectual insight to govern except by diktat.

Private Protection Professionals Need More Appreciation Not More Regulation

This article, State agency cracking down on unregistered security guards, companies, inspired my commentary below:

As non government employees, private protectors are already more than sufficiently regulated by laws governing our profession and those more broadly applied to any citizen.

I think we err in comparing our profession to, and modeling it after, reforms law enforcement is undergoing.
