A Reagan Conservative

A recent article in the Daily Caller about Rick Santorum made an argument of what it means to be a Reagan Conservative. Saturday night [01/07] on the ABC GOP Debate coverage, I heard a lot of fast talk, and complex terminology. I remarked to my wife that this sounded more like a reading of the tax code and civil laws than an actual debate. In two hours of blather, my own preferred candidate, Governor Perry, was allowed to speak perhaps two or three whole minutes before being abruptly and rudely cut-off by ABC's Diane Sawyer or George Stephanopoulos. No kidding. What is going on here?

Iran Mocks Obama

"You know giving up the canal itself might be a better deal if we could throw in the state dept." - Ronald Reagan, 1978, speaking of Jimmy Carter's Treaty with Panama giving up U.S. control of the Panama Canal. "Reagan in His Own Hand." Iran gives the U.S. a Christmas present: Closing the Straits of Hormuz. Perhaps you missed this tidbit of news while the press muses 98% of their time about Newt-Romney.

Thou wicked, lazy Servant

“To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.” - Matthew 25:15 Dedicated to the brave American GIs and Allies, of World War Two who fought the Great Crusade that began on this day 70 years ago … December 7, 1941. I have often heard the above excerpt from Jesus’ “Parable of the Talents” used as a text-proof that Christians are supposed to be Socialists. Every time I hear this, I grab the duct tape to wrap around my forehead so that my head does not explode [apologies to Glenn Beck]. This is, of course, sophistry and folly on their part. Socialism is an economic construct of Utopian Collectivists of the mid-Eighteenth Century.

“Zucottis” are not the Sans-Culottes

"There is only one step from the sublime to the ridiculous." - Napoleon Bonaparte Can you imagine being the paid SEIU head-bashing clown-agitator on Wall Street that has to deal with this:

Looking for a few good Republicans

“Labour to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience.” - George Washington I begin this article with a salute to my fellow veterans and retired military for their steadfast courage and dedication to their oaths to protect and serve our great Country’s Constitution. May we all adhere to George Washington’s charge.

Meltdown?

"The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." - King Solomon, Ecclesiastes, Chapter 1. I recently received this Four-Part Series from 2010, "Meltdown: The Men Who Crashed The World." I did not have time to watch every minute of all four parts entirely but I did dip into them all, and review them in significant enough depth to comment. It is a very interesting: a CBC Documentary ... well filmed and produced ... but from an extremely Liberal, Big Government and propagandistic point of view.

Rick Perry: Shaped By Faith

image" The key to being a good manager is keeping the people who hate me away from those who are still undecided." - Casey Stengel It appears that Governor Perry has quite a challenge in securing the GOP nomination if the pettiness of the last GOP debate and the fear and loathing in the mainstream media are any indication. Well here we are. We finally have an upfront, wear-it-on-your-sleeve, tell-it-like-you-see-it Christian running for President and you'd think Godzilla had just waded out of the Gulf of Mexico and was threatening us all with destruction. Have Conservatives gone mad?

Kinky for Perry?

Kinky Friedman endorsing Rick Perry? This is significant in Texas. For those of you in the dark, Kinky Friedman is a Texas comedian, singer, poet, pundit, observer and all-round gadfly on the rump of any horse's arse politician. He is the Texas answer to Jackie Mason. If you don't know who Jackie Mason is, you just might be a Redneck ... or very young.

“Let Them Go Their Way”

"Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival." - Winston S. Churchill, Speech, House of Commons, May 13, 1940 Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a Herculean task at hand: The unconditional dismissal of Barack Hussein Obama, and the dismantling of his horrendous "Fundamental Transformation" of America.

“When Those Saints Go Marchin’ In”

The noun, "Palestine," is a modern cognate for the name "Philistine." Philistines no longer exist. Palestinians have never existed. It is good to maintain right-headed thinking. How does one do that in this day of obfuscation and disinformation?

“You asked for it!”

"They roll and rumble, They turn and tumble, ... As piggies do in a poke."- Sir Thomas More, Works, 1557 Let's Make a Deal! ... The Price is Right! ... Wheel of Fortune! ... and Jeopardy! ... all rolled into one. This isn't the "Toyota" that we "asked for." But it is the one we deserve considering how many Communists, Socialists, Progressives, Liberals and RINOs we have allowed to remain in Congress.

A Most Wonderful Human Being

"Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life." Movie buffs will recognize this quote from the film: "The Manchurian Candidate" starring Lawrence Harvey and Frank Sinatra. It is a riveting film, released at the very height of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. The film is a tale of a Soviet Communist plot where brainwashed and conditioned Korean War POWs are released back to the USA with a mission: Return home and assassinate a Presidential Candidate. The Soviets hope that in the ensuing panic and a desire for stability, that Vice-Presidential Candidate [ actually a communist dupe controlled by his wife] would be placed at the top of the ticket and swept into office sympathetically by voters.

Concerns about anti-Mormon Bigotry

I read and saw where Glenn Beck and his family were harassed at a park in New York City while trying to enjoy a classic film. I also hear those who have concerns about Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman being Mormons. Is our society really this petty? Is the media trying to stir up division or controversy? If so, this is a bad "game" without a winner. At the expense of raising eyebrows and hackles, allow me to explain.

Defining a traitor

Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Peters has written an excellent article about Jonathan Pollard, the US Intelligence Analyst turned Israeli Spy.   Pollard was caught decades ago, was convicted and is currently in prison for his crimes. Colonel Peters says in his essay:
"I have been a dedicated supporter of Israel since childhood. I believe that Israel is worth fighting and dying for. I believe that Israel is an integral part of my civilization. I believe that Israel’s survival is critical on practical, strategic and moral grounds. And I believe that Jonathan Pollard should have been executed for treason and espionage.

Holy Smokes, Bullwinkle: U.S. Hiring Slows, paltry 54,000 Jobs added in May

We never had a real recovery, only a dead cat bounce. We may already be in a Depression:
  • All of the Keynesian economists have crawled out from under their rocks to fool us again after failing Eighty years ago to solve anything.
  • Bond yields are almost non-existent.
  • Folks are scared of the Market, but there are no "safe" investments.

Buying Love

"Say you don't need no diamond ring and I'll be satisfied. Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can't buy. I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love."- The Beatles Our President, hoping to buy himself some love, has instead given Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran the green light to attack Israel.

So, What is at Stake?

"The men with the muck-rakes are often indispensable to the well-being of society; but only if they know when to stop raking the muck." President Teddy Roosevelt, 1906 I recently shared a message with, Gina Miller, who writes a darned good column [DakotaVoice.com]. I was telling her that we all need to continue telling folks that their Grand-Pappy's Democrat Party does not exist. For that matter, neither does their Daddy's GOP. Both have drifted so far Left that some form of major political upheaval is all but inevitable to restore balance. Let's just hope that throwing their Big Government ideas overboard [like tea?] does not happen too late for America's sake.

Mock the opposition - full speed ahead!

Barack Obama has settled on his election game plan: Mock your opponents as unworthy at every turn. Now that the media has firmly established the messiah's "cred" as a magnificently bold, brave, and decisive Commander in Chief, he feels free to move back into domestic politics. It is strange indeed. No sooner has he used the Military for his own opportunistic resume enhancement than he has placed the War on Terror [aka "Overseas Contingency Operations" for true believers] on the far rear boiler plate.

“Hirohito and Tojo Embarrassed - FDR & US Celebrate”

Let us pause for a moment and reflect on a truly “gutsy” decision. President Obama is often compared against Franklin Roosevelt as a leader in that mold. I beg to differ. Roosevelt was a known quantity when he came into office. His programs were undeniably Liberal-Left in many respects, and he was certainly high-handed. The Republicans, however, gave him his due. He had beaten Herbert Hoover in a landslide of epic proportions, his inspiring speeches and chats, and his confident style won him trust among the population. His own adoration for America and his fellow Americans was obvious. The New Deal was a “Questionable Deal” to the GOP, but they gave FDR much leeway. Besides, they could not stop it.

A Conversation About Anti-Semitism

"The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities." Ayn Rand This is an article about anti-Semitism, though the reader might think it wanders a bit. It springs from a correspondence I recently shared with my friend, Joan Swirsky, who encouraged me to submit it for publication.
