Google’s grab as the inarguable ‘Truth Teller of the Digital World’ was never too big to fail.
Google principals living high on the proverbial hog just don’t seem to get that you can’t tell people what to believe any more than you can tell them what to think.
It was Google that openly ran Hillary Rodham Clinton’s digital presidential election campaign, the one both polls and the mainstream media predicted she’d win.
Even with the best digital campaign help available, Mrs. Clinton went down like a lead balloon.
Some election results sneak past even the most digitalized campaigns leaving conventional starting posts as relics of the past.
Owners of the world’s largest search engine should know that not all the money in the world can buy anybody a monopoly on the truth.
Google’s chances of success in claiming a monopoly on the truth would have gone so much further if only they had not allowed the politicization of their biggest product. Their main political proteges were sidelined on November 8, 2016, and will be a long time remounting the horse they rode in on.
Google is to start displaying fact-checking labels in its search results to highlight news and information that has been vetted and show whether it is considered to be true or false, as part of its efforts to help combat the spread of misinformation and fake news. (Guardian, April 7, 2017)
“The fact-checking feature, which was first introduced to Google News in the UK and US in October, will now be displayed as an information box in general search results as well as news search results globally.
“The small snippets display information about the claim made by a particular page or site and who made the claim, as well as the results of fact checking on the highlighted claim. The fact checks are not performed by Google, but by named trusted publishers and fact-checkers using an open system to mark claims as having been checked.”
Let’s start with Hillary Clinton’s campaign lies and Russian collusion.
Fact checks by “named trusted publishers and fact-checkers using an open system to mark claims as having been checked”?
Most publishers of the current day are not trusted by the public, many of whom see them as spreading ‘Fake News’ while blaming conservative news sites as the spreaders.
Nor can you really claim ownership of trust. You can only earn it.

And unfortunately, not all of it is factual or true, making it hard for people to distinguish fact from fiction. (Guardian)
“As we make fact checks more visible in search results, we believe people will have an easier time reviewing and assessing these fact checks, and making their own informed opinions.”
“Fact check boxes will not be displayed for every search result, and only publishers that are “algorithmically determined to be an authoritative source of information” will be included in the program Google said.”
Publishers that are “algorithmically determined to be an authoritative source of information” are the same progressive left ones that already work to suppress the news. Ironically enough , one only needs to “Google” them to see for themselves.
Meanwhile, Google’s new theme song should be Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York’.
Google has no ownership rights on the truth.
The truth can’s be owned. It can only be told.
