March for Life Breathing Life Back Into America’s Soul

They came by the hundreds of thousands to Washington, D.C. yesterday, just as they did for the past 44 years. Continuing their march in an almost total media blackout that was part of their lives for almost half a century; ridiculed, scorned and passed by for more than three generations, they always kept coming, keeping the annual March for Life, prominent in their lives. They ignored the insults hurled their way, choosing instead to hear the imaginary cries of 67 million babies ripped from the wombs of their own mothers.

Knowing that ‘legal’ and ‘abortion’ never belonged in the same breath, Roe v Wade notwithstanding, they never gave up on prayer and hope, even when presidential candidate Hillary Clinton boldly stated, during the 2016 presidential campaign: “The unborn person doesn’t have Constitutional rights”. They kept their march going with all odds against them because they were following in the footsteps of angels. January 27, 2017 was their day; the day that the Creator’s Gift, the inalienable right to life supplanted the Cult of Death entrenched at the White House for the last eight years and more. Roe v. Wade could never obliterate the noble words of the Declaration of Independence:

"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" is a well-known phrase in the United States Declaration of Independence. The phrase gives three examples of the "unalienable rights" which the Declaration says have been given to all human beings by their Creator, and which governments are created to protect.”

Kellyanne Conway—one of them long before her appointment as trusted advisor to President Donald J. Trump—and Vice President Michael Pence—the first vice president in the history of the USA to address the March for life—were there. Mother Teresa, undisputed heroine of the Movement and canonized Saint was there, not in body but in soul. Twenty-two years ago, President Bill Clinton, and his wife, Hillary, were the only two among hundreds to sit in defiant silence amid a standing ovation that followed Mother Teresa’s address at the National Prayer Breakfast. It was a robust standing ovation that lasted for five full minutes. As Peggy Hartshorn, PhD, chairman of the board for Heartbeat International, the world’s largest network of pro-life pregnancy help, so aptly put it on Sept. 5, 2016: “22 years ago, the Clintons pulled a Colin Kaepernick on Mother Teresa.” Dr. Hartshorn’s dedication to women and children is a lifetime dedication with her involvement on the front-lines of serving women in unexpected pregnancies since Roe v. Wade made abortion on-demand legal in the United States in 1973.
