Prayer for the Victims and for America

Orlando, FL - "In the aftermath of the horrible tragedy in Orlando where innocent people were killed and injured, we offer our prayers for the victims, their families, their loved ones, and for America. Now is the time for prayer, not political posturing," said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel.
"Every human being is created in the image of God. We must stand united in defense of human life and against violence," said Staver. Having just returned from Israel with Christian college students on a Covenant Journey tour, I am reminded of the powerful words of Jesus delivered in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:3-11). May the words of Jesus guide our actions:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
