GOP Platform Supports Israel and Opposes BDS

CLEVELAND - The 2016 Republican National Convention recently adopted a platform which supports Israel and opposes the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS), a campaign intended to isolate the nation economically and socially until it complies with international law and Palestinian rights. An excerpt from the GOP platform states:

"Support for Israel is an expression of Americanism, and it is the responsibility of our government to advance policies that reflect Americans' strong desire for a relationship with no daylight between America and Israel. We recognize Jerusalem as the eternal and indivisible capital of the Jewish state and call for the American embassy to be moved there in fulfillment of U.S. law. The United States seeks to assist in the establishment of comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East, to be negotiated among those living in the region. We oppose any measures intended to impose an agreement or to dictate borders or other terms, and we call for the immediate termination of all U.S. funding of any entity that attempts to do so."

Liberty Counsel supports Israel through its affiliated ministries, Christians in Defense of Israel and Covenant Journey. Covenant Journey is a non-profit organization which immerses Christian college students in the land of the Bible with an experiential and educational journey of biblical, historic and modern Israel. This all-expense-paid tour, with the exception of a $500 registration fee and domestic travel, strengthens their Christian faith and motivates them to become advocates for Israel. "This declaration by the GOP is a positive step toward recognizing Israel's right as a nation and its importance to America. We must not only pray for Israel but also support this significant country."
