Texas Judge Rejects Obama's Transgender Directive

WICHITA FALLS, TX -- Just in time for back to school, a federal judge in Texas has barred the Obama administration's directive to U.S. public schools that so-called "transgender" students must be allowed to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of their chosen gender identity. The ruling by U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor on Sunday applies to schools nationwide and comes after Texas and 12 other states challenged the Obama directive as unconstitutional during a hearing in Fort Worth last week. The Obama administration's letter was sent in May to every public school district in the country telling them to allow so-called "transgender" students to use the bathrooms that match their subjective "gender identity." The directive stated that schools that did not abide could face lawsuits or the loss of federal aid. "We applaud Judge O'Connor for his stand in the fight for the privacy and protection of students," said Mat Staver, Liberty Counsel's Founder and Chairman. "That directive was a lawless and ridiculous act by the President and we must continue to reject the Obama bullies. The facts show that one in four girls and one out of every six boys under 18 will be sexually assaulted. This unconstitutional mandate would have only increased those statistics," said Staver.
