Segregation forever! It’s a matter of diversity

Justin Trudeau should make Parliament more diverse

As prime minister, Trudeau has no say where members of other parties sit in the House of Commons. However as party leader he can decide where MPs in his own party sit within the Liberal benches. Trudeau should use his own concept of diversity to make it more prominent in the House of Commons. The Little Potato (a name given to him on his recent trip to China) needs to show his unique understanding of diversity by seating female Liberal MPs on the back rows. Practise what you preach, Justin! Speaking of preaching, Trudeau visited an Ottawa mosque on Monday to mark the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha. As is his wont, he just did not go to any mosque. The prime minster went to a gender-segregated mosque that has connections with terrorism. As Anthony Furey wrote in the Toronto Sun, the imam, Samy Metwally, is a member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS). IUMS has been banned in the United Arab Emirates because the group was designated as a terror organization a couple of years ago.
Trudeau was well rested when he went to celebrate Eid al-Adha. He took the previous day, Sunday, off. It didn’t matter to Trudeau that Sunday was the 15th anniversary of 9/11. Although his office did issue a statement, he did not attend any events marking the occasion. It seems he only ventures out to meet his kind of people. The National Post reports Trudeau was accompanied to the mosque by three female MPs. They were forced to enter the mosque through a side door and sit upstairs with the rest of the members of the inferior sex. It is not known whether these MPs wanted to speak but if they did, they would not have been allowed to. An attendance by the prime minister of Canada at a segregated mosque with terrorist ties would have been bad enough if Junior had simply gone there. But not only did he speak but he spoke about diversity. In part, he said, “We [Canada] are a place that has figured out that diversity can be a source of strength not just a source of weakness and as I look at this beautiful room, with the sisters upstairs, everyone here, the diversity. [Emphasis added].”

Okay kiddies, what have we learned? Well, we now know that segregating men and women by forcing the women to sit upstairs is “diversity;” something to be desired in Trudeau’s Canada. The self-described feminist not only does not see this segregation as a bad thing but praises it as being part of the great principle of diversity that defines the country as Justin sees it. Trudeau and others on the left are always whining about Parliament not being diverse enough. Well, Imam Trudeau should practise what he preached at the mosque and seat all the female MPs on the back benches. Since most of the money Trudeau has spent since taking office has been in other countries, perhaps he should spend a few bucks at home. He could have the House of Commons redesigned so the Liberal Party sisters could sit upstairs. And if he could also require these female Liberal MPs to wear burquas, that would be another plus. Segregation forever! It’s a matter of diversity.
