If you don't know the name Shani Davis, it's probably an indicator that you're not a zealous follower of Olympic speed-skating. Davis is, frankly, an amazing athlete. He was not only the first African-American to win an individual gold medal at the winter games, but also the first man ever to win back-to-back gold in the Olympic 1000 meter.
Saying that last month's government shutdown was a loss for Democrats is a massive understatement. Their decision to place the wants of illegal immigrants above the needs of the American people landed like a piano falling from a skyscraper.

If you've followed the tortured, winding, seemingly endless saga of Hillary Clinton's secret email server, you may recall an exchange between President Obama and CBS News reporter Bill Plante. Plante asked Obama when he learned of Hillary's secret email address and the President gave his standard reply:
As you know, the Democrats are eager for you to see their "rebuttal" to the claims contained in last Friday's FISA memo. They want nothing more than to let you feast your eyes on the unarguably exculpatory material they've collected. How it will refute the Nunes document is unclear - particularly since no one has argued the basic facts Nunes presented. People have said that they were "cherry-picked" or lacking in "context," but they aren't really denying the bullet points.
'm a big fan of pop culture. I love music & movies, have an extensive collection of both, and no, I don't "boycott everything" based on politics. Just as I can't imagine the misery of being a social justice warrior who's always searching for reasons to be offended, I can't imagine the misery of basing every one of my entertainment decisions around politics.
If you've paid any attention to the gun control debate, you know the argument. Conservatives say the 2nd Amendment guarantees your right to bear arms so that you can defend yourself, your property, your family and other innocents against attacks from criminals or your own government. Democrats look at them like they're idiots and say something along the lines of "well, then why aren't there any examples of 'good guys with guns' stopping crimes?"
I'm not sure what may or may not be going on behind the scenes at the White House, but President Trump just fired off and oddly specific - and (even for him) oddly intense - tweet. It targets California Democrat Representative Adam Schiff, calling him a "liar" and "leaker." Schiff is currently the senior Dem on the House Intel Committee. The President also ripped other "liars and leakers" like Sen. Mark Warner (Schiff's Senate counterpart), former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA director John Brennan, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
Last week, Dan shared the story of Randall Margraves. He's the father of three daughters - all of whom were abused by Olympic gymnastics doctor, and disgusting subhuman pedophile, Larry Nassar. Margraves asked for a few minutes alone with the creature who assaulted his children and, when that was denied, he charged.
As you know, John McCain has his own ties to the infamous Steele dossier, so it's probably not too surprising that he's less than thrilled about the release of the Nunes memo. However, he might have gone a little further than you'd expect with his objections. If releasing the document is a case of forcing federal transparency, federal transparency is now, somehow, "Vladimir Putin's" job.
Maxine Waters is...lots of fun. She loves to pander, race-bait, and display her total ignorance of a variety of issues on a regular basis. Her incoherent ramblings have made her a staple of both left-wing media outlets and conservative websites. They have also, it seems, garnered the attention of her most powerful political enemy.
For about a month, networks like NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN were more than happy to pimp Michael Wolff and his now-infamous anti-Trump book "Fire and Fury." The inaccuracies, unsubstantiated claims, and outright errors were troubling, a little, but they didn't really care. The narrative was that the book was a bombshell, so they ran with it as long as they could. Then they noticed something.
Regular readers will know that, from time to time, the "Cain gang" disagrees. Sometimes that disagreement is about a particular issue, sometimes it's about strategy, but more often than not, it's about one currently serving Senator. I'm extremely hawkish on individual freedoms, deeply disturbed by our current habit of trading liberty for security and am extraordinarily wary of the surveillance state we're building.
Frank Luntz, as you probably know, has always viewed Donald Trump with disdain. He was baffled when his focus groups started suggesting Trump could win and, right up until Election Night, he kept hammering away at the President-to-be. His recalcitrance culminated in the following, now-infamous, tweet:
Whoa. So far, this is probably the biggest retirement announcement we've seen. Trey Gowdy will not seek re-election to the House of Representatives and is leaving politics for an unspecified job somewhere in the Justice System.
During last night's State of the Union address, President Trump spent considerable time telling the story of Otto Warmbier. He's the American student who was arrested in North Korea, was imprisoned and tortured, then died from his injuries upon his return to the United States. His parents were in the audience last night.
I'm won't try to transcribe Pelosi's bizzaro-world rebuttal/defense/deflection regarding the hotly-anticipated Nunes intelligence memo. I'm not going to make any attempt to break it down for you, parse it out, or dissect what she's saying. Any such effort would be a complete waste of time, because virtually nothing here makes any sense.
