A plea for VA housing fundsL.A. County asks feds to reverse decision that may cost veterans program $34 million.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) needs to immediately start building new, permanent, supportive-housing on VA property in Los Angeles (not rehabbing old, vacant rat-infested buildings by so-called non-profits who get 70-year leases essentially rent free), and stop warehousing our war-injured Veterans with welfare checks (VASH-HUD vouchers) with cheap, ramshackle apartments in seedy neighborhoods run by slumlords.
