All States Should Freeze North Korean Regime Assets


GENEVA, -- UN Watch today called on all countries to follow the U.S. announcement and impose personal sanctions targeting North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. Although the international community already applies a range of sanctions against Pyongyang, Washington's decision on Wednesday marks the first time that government officials have been targeted personally. UN Watch has been leading this call since September 2014, when 20 North Korean defectors wrote to Swiss president Didier Burkhalter calling on him to freeze the regime's bank accounts held in the country. The letter received a response by the Swiss President and has been quoted by numerous media including CNN, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal.
