P. T. Barnum was an American showman and founder of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. He was also widely known for his flamboyant style and elaborate hoaxes. A famous quote from the audacious showman says a quite a lot about his take on humanity; “There’s a sucker born every minute.” A born pitchman if there ever was one, Barnum could sell tickets to throngs of inquisitive and often skeptical people hoping to see some strange human oddity that they almost certainly knew would turn out to be a fake.
