Because you’re a comedian does not mean everything you say or do is a joke
Although I have not been writing much lately, I have written thousands of articles for Canada Free Press and its hard copy predecessor, Toronto Free Press, during the last 20 plus years. Although I have occasionally thrown in an “I,” I have always avoided writing in the first person.
Expressing an opinion by inserting something like “I think” gives the reader the opportunity to say “Who cares what he thinks?” And besides, I’m not all that interesting. But on this occasion, there is no other way to do it.
