Since the invasion of Ukraine by Vladimir Putin, there have been several instances of xenophobia against Russians living abroad that have gone largely uncondemned in Canada and other parts of the world.
Last month, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra cancelled concerts by a young Russian pianist, and several prominent orchestras or ballet companies cancelled the performances of classical Russian pieces or Russian artists.
