As an individual who has served in combat on active duty in the U. S. Marine Corps, I find it rather unsettling to hear another former Marine not only lie about a happening in which he was involved, but then to once again lie to cover up his transgressions.
It’s not that I’m claiming that Marines never lie, or at least, hardly ever lie; it’s just that to err to cover an error greatly diminishes any respect people might have had for the perpetrator.
A lie is one of life’s most despicable statements.
