The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently filed a court brief in its ongoing litigation over the regulation of greenhouse gas emissions. The amazing thing about EPA's argument is that they are saying that it would be absurd to follow the law. I'm not joking, as I will demonstrate below. The Institute for Energy Research (IER) has consistently opposed granting the federal government yet further intervention into the operation of economy and specifically of energy markets. Ironically, we at IER can now refer to the EPA's own court documents as evidence of just how burdensome and unrealistic the EPA's stated objectives are.
