Give Us This Day Our Small Moment of Luxury

Our small moment of luxury doesn’t have to be remarkable and it doesn’t have to last long. Like power napping, even a short pause will help. Ten minutes has transformed my day many times.

When we can’t actually stop or sit down, even a slight breeze helps. Maybe a cloud slipped in front of the hot sun for a little spell. If we’re sweaty and in the middle of a job, take the time to notice and be grateful.

Many sentences I loved, but especially this one, ". . . the golden flashes of the beeches, aspens, and birches freeing their leaves to flutter in the afternoon sun."
We had 2 college girls over to paint our front room. When they are here, I am up on my feet the whole time and managing the 2 dogs. I usually can just open the door to let the dogs in or out, but yesterday I stepped out in the backyard with them. What a marvelous day! I sat in a chair so I could throw the ball to them for a while. The grass in the backyard is different than the rest of the property and grows tall much quicker. Deep green with yellow and gold leaves are on it. A very special breeze was blowing. A warm sun and a slightly cool breeze. The sky was blue and the afternoon was perfect. I told the girls they needed to take a break and come outside to enjoy this wonderful moment.
I have always been like this, but didn't meet other people who were stopping to be amazed and grateful for the simple but wonderful things in life. I am so glad to read your articles because you truly do stop and smell every rose. I am sure God delights in our delighting! I love it when I can stop for something wonderful!
