John Lennon wrote in 1968 in response to the riots in Paris "You say you want a revolution..." My answer, today, is "Yes." I want a revolution. A peaceful revolution. From the right. From sea to sea to sea. From those of us who cherish our freedoms, our values and morals. Our Judeo/Christian ethic that underpins our country. This is an ethic that teaches us how to be compassionate people in a compassionate society. It is an ethic of openness and tolerance, accommodation and inclusion. That we fail is not the failure of the ethic but human failure in implementing it. It is no easy task.
Yet, here in 2016, with Islamic terror world-wide we have a Canadian government foisting Islam upon us, attempting to normalize it rather than demand that Muslims acculturate to our life-style. The ethic underpinning Islam is diametrically opposed to ours. We have watched in horror as Muslim countries savagely murder in the name of Islam. Islam does not preach care for the other, for the other is a dhimmi-lesser than a Muslim. Islam means submission. It is a based on an ethic that devolved from Judaism and Christianity. The Judeo/Christian ethic had already brought into the world the concept of free-will; that we are not at the whim of capricious gods who float in and out of our lives. The Judeo/Christian ethic taught us that there is a beginning and end of time, that we play a part in history and that we are obligated to make choices, not submit.
