Recent months have seen an increasing number of terrorist attacks in the West Bank, along with a greater number of attempted attacks that were foiled. On June 30, 2015, Yoram Cohen, head of Israel’s General Security Service (GSS), reported to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that since 2012 there has been a 50 percent annual increase in “popular” terror attacks (683 in 2012 compared to 1,834 in 2014).
