Trump is a political genius! His Monday evening declaration – that we ban Muslims entering the country - “until our representatives can figure out what’s going on,” - is strategically magnificent! And the post-concussion polls tell us this.
But aside from the populist allure of the content of Trump’s message, his strategy is accomplishing something far more important for our culture. His declaration has instantaneously transformed the global information space occupied by the mainstream media, the Left, and establishment Republican political hacks.
Trump’s simple declaration is succeeding in highlighting the arrogant presumptions of the media/ruling class elites, calling them out for who they are and what they stand for, and in their own words. The Comment section of online publications is the new front in the ongoing Cancel Culture Battle.
