Meanwhile, it’s still snowing, and through the wind coming in off the Atlantic, I think I can hear my long gone Nova Scotian Grandfather, saying: ‘Snow!” BEAUTIFUL Snow!”

When The Snow Softly Falls

It's been snowing here in the Village since early this morning. Big, feathery flakes swirling down slowly with a reminder that each and every one of the Creator’s snowflakes is different in star-like design.

Last Winter, CFP’s first one in Nova Scotia, brought the Christmas Morning thrill of our first dusting of snow, followed later one other snowfall of several inches that had already melted by the end of the day.

Judi, your reminiscences of growing up in a wintry Maritime remind me of my own upbringing over on P.E.I. Same storms, same snow, same Acadian villages, same food, same kitchen gatherings. But after turning 20 I hated winter and still do. I can't think of a single thing good about it other than it makes Summer (I capitalize that on purpose) all the better. As an Atlantic Canadian now living in Alberta I still have some of the good Maritime things with me here including food recipes and of course memories. The Great White Curse also hits Alberta but only in temperatures, not in snow. I prefer that.
And .. may God bless all the dogs of rural Nova Scotia.

Nice article about snow. What does the Word of God say about snew and its meaning/significance? We know that snow really has nothing biblically to do with Christ-Mass (Roman Catholic High Mass of the Year) since Jesus was born around September/October as a Jewish child in Bethlehem (House of Bread) in Israel. So then since snow has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus at all ... what does Jesus have to say about it? After all, Jesus is God - the Word of God made Human and the Author of the Bible, so what does He/the Word of God say about s n o w ?

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
King James Version (KJV)

Revelation 1:14
“His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;”
King James Version (KJV)

Daniel 7:9
I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne the fiery flame, his wheels burning fire. fiery flame, his wheels burning fire.

Hang in there. If you see the beauty in snow, you are far ahead of a lot of people. Snow is a creation of God as well as sunshine and heat. I thank the Lord every day that my power remains on, but this is Michigan, we have had bitter cold winters many times in my life and it comes with the territory. Do I want any other state. Nope, I love the seasons and the thoughts that Spring does indeed follow Winter as light follows darkness, and I'm trusting we'll all remember that even the darkness in our countries can't stop the true fact that God is sovereign and knows all and we just need to trust Him in all things. Cold weather included. Good article. We need these occasionally. God Bless CFP and you and your staff, Judi.

Judi and Brian,
Snow, dogs and Friends.
It doesn't get any better than that.
It reminds me of simpler times and it reminds me of a song. A song I'd like to gift to you and your crew on the "Good ship CFP". I wish you all good health in 2024.
James

Thanks Gord...

Beautiful snow! We moved to North Dakota expecting the worst winters. We thought that would be the norm here. Last year we had a short fall, beautiful but too short. Then we had our first real snow on Christmas Day. Perfect timing. People here hate it or love it. Most are used to it and love it. This year we because of the El Nino, we had an extended fall which was just wonderful, but then no snow. We were coming upon Christmas with NO snow. It just didn't feel right. How odd to see the grass at Christmas.
I grew up in Southern Calif, so no snow was normal for so much of my life. Now that I have been in snowy climates, it just doesn't seem right to have no snow! Snow covers our world in a blanket of white. Covers the scars of the earth and the nakedness of winter plants. It always reminds me of how Jesus covers our sins with His crimson blood and changes the landscape of our life with His righteousness. He makes us white as snow. I love snow!
Thank you, Judi. Next year when we have our first snow, I will think about your grandfather also!

When I see snow, I am grateful that we are done mowing the lawn for some time!
