Poor guy! America expects annoyed Obama to actually fight ISIS

All week long we’ve played clips on our radio show, and embedded them on our web site, showing President Obama taking questions from reporters and others about his strategy – or lack thereof – for fighting ISIS. And the more questions he gets, the more palpable his annoyance becomes. Obama has had it with people who keep asking him the same questions about whether he really understood the ISIS threat, or whether he needs to adjust his strategy, or whether he needs to reconsider his statements that ISIS is “contained” and that his strategy is working, or whether it’s really a good idea to welcome thousands of unvetted Syrian refugees into the country.
Obama’s exasperation reached such a point that he actually went so far as to say he’s not interested in notions of “America winning” or “American leadership,” as he’s convinced these are nothing more than empty slogans. Because in his left-wing world view, they are. But Obama’s clear and obvious annoyance with everyone who isn’t buying his answers reveals something fundamental about the man and his priorities. He has no interest whatsoever in fighting terrorism. None. He never did. His first presidential campaign was based largely on the notion that the Bush Administration engaged in a gigantic overreaction to 9/11, and that instead of military action we should have used “strategic patience,” which is his euphemism for doing nothing and claiming it’s smart. At one point, Obama actually said the administration’s approach to countering terrorism was “Don’t do stupid s***,” which was understood to mean getting into difficult battles like Bush did. But here’s the problem: The more we look at Obama’s track record, the clearer it becomes that he considers doing just about anything about terrorism to qualify as “stupid s***.” While the French conduct hundreds of counterterrorism raids, Obama lectures people who don’t understand that, hey, there will be “setbacks” like the one that saw more than 100 people murdered in the Betanclan concert hall in Paris.

Setbacks! What do you people expect? These attacks are hard to stop! Yes, they are. Especially when you don’t believe in doing anything proactive to try to stop them. The Bush approach – however unpopular it may have become – was to take the fight to them where they were before they could come here and take it to us. You can criticize the results, but you can’t deny this: Not a single one of the terrorists our guys killed during the Bush-led war on terror ever made it here to kill an American. That’s a victory any way you look at it. It doesn’t mean Bush never did anything wrong or couldn’t have done some things better. But he knew we needed action and he took it. And when Bush was president, he never acted annoyed when asked how he was going to defeat the terrorists. He completely understood that keeping America safe was his first responsibility as president and was glad to explain how he intended to do it. Obama, by contrast, responds with petulant irritation every time he has to address this issue. You get the impression he views the Paris attacks as a real drag because he wants to talk about gun control and taxing the rich and other elements of his socialist agenda, but now because of this people expect him to act like a real commander in chief – something he has no interest in. Maybe he shouldn’t have run for an office that, according to the Constitution, carries the responsibility of commander in chief. Then again, since when does he care about the Constitution? Just like all these people asking about fighting ISIS, it’s just one more irritation for a poor guy who just can’t catch a break.
