National Review Online vs. Donald John Trump

The recent National Review Online anti Trump article dump was a unique phenomena specifically aimed at Donald Trump for the Iowa contest. The N.R.O. or National Review Online is a long standing conservative venue with a good reputation. Even Thomas Sowell voiced his displeasure with Trump, so this had a respectable yet underhanded nature about it. And we wouldn't be surprised if Trump knew about it all along and did not feel compelled to do more than remark that the N.R.O. is suffering low readers or something akin to. Who cares. But he did care because Fox News had hosts and guests attacking Trump based on the N.R.O. articles. The specter of pure hate on TV was unsettling to say the least, and we suspect after the brutal segments polled badly, some cessation of nastiness at F.N.C. will be coming down the chain of command. This isn't to say that some of Trump's critics, or critics of the 2016 race in general shouldn't be allowed to voice their displeasure. But the unbridled hate was more than we will accept as true conservative patriots.
This is why we conservatives support Edwin Meese III's call for the cessation of internecine republican political attacks to temper our position by pointing out that 2016 Presidential candidate Donald Trump has been forced to use "preemptive" attacking techniques from the start. Most of these N.R.O. anti-Trump pundits strangely forgot all about the off-base brutal attacks foisted upon Trump in the beginning of the 2016 Presidential race. People forget when the starting horn sounded and all the candidates in the 2016 Presidential race roared out of the gates, once Trump began talking about immigration, talking about enforcing the laws on the books in a nation in which the President more less does not, many alleged conservative candidates on the right seek amnesty. Trump charged ahead on immigration and won, not only did he win but he won the hearts and minds of the Stolen Lives Quilt people who lost loved ones to illegal aliens. And it was Trump they endorsed. They even had the father of an African American youth slain by illegal aliens, open campaign ceremonies for Donald Trump. Yet America's political left, middle and right, continued to assail candidate Trump, and more importantly his conservative positions on illegal immigration. Lesser men without nerve would have bolted for the door, but Trump stuck to his position and even doubled down on it. Then came the killing of Kathryn Steinle, and the Santa Maria, California, woman murdered mere weeks later, combined with the never-ending series of illegal alien-driven crime in California. Trump won the fight. He won the debate, he won the issue and he rescued illegal immigration as an issue for American conservatives. Nor will Trump have too far to go to highlight illegal alien crime in California in the future. A horrible foreboding irony that continues to prove Trump right on illegal immigration still occurs in Santa Maria, California, the very town where the elderly Air Force airwoman was killed. The situation there has grown much worse. Public gun fighting on their streets, murders, many committed by illegals bent on expanding gang territories. It is still out of control. Obama's failure to restore order has kicked off an entirely new, even more dangerous phenomena that occurs with such frequency, ferocity and strength, be it grand theft auto, or drugs, murder, even human trafficking and beneath or attached to it all, in increasingly greater numbers are illegal aliens who now reside in America with impunity. Why aren't these critical conservative pundits talking about illegal alien crime waves now?

In retrospect it seems as though most of the critics in the National Review Online articles were after Trump from the beginning, some even before he jumped into the issue of Illegal Immigration from the standpoint of American sovereignty, law and compassion. Because only Trump vowed to secure the border for real; to stop the insanity on the border so our fellow human beings could pass safely/humanely, with proper documentation. Why have conservative pundits completely abandoned Donald Trump on border security? Many of us suspect most of the N.R.O. authors just plain don't like Donald Trump. But if it weren't for Trump these very same alleged true conservatives would have kissed the Democrat's rings on immigration, and would have kissed millions of Hispanics and African Americans at the polls, goodbye. Because don't think for one second, honest, hard working class African American or Hispanic persons in America are in love with the idea of millions of illegal aliens coming to America, then exploiting the work place and entitlements. And for that matter everybody above and below America's shrinking middle class cares, too. Then, finally, someone, Donald Trump, comes along and says, if America's economy and society are to survive then someone has to take a stand for America, and that's Trump. But conservatives, hearing that from and/or about Trump, went into hissy fits because they are alleged gate keepers, and only they can speak conservative lingo. How dare Trump make conservative noises? How dare Trump discover the founding fathers, and take a stand for America's best interest, even if it means ruffling some feathers? Theodore Roosevelt was like that, other great Presidents ruffled feathers. We think it is because even in today's political arena, the hero is still the man in the ring fighting for America's survival with every fiber of his being, not the popcorn galleries, wisecracking and bemoaning the hero's performance or specific conservative qualifications. And, finally, let us remember, the 2016 Presidential race started off very nasty towards Trump, simply because he dared to put truth to power, and express principles before personalities. But strangely dissatisfied with Trump's outspoken and correct stances on illegal immigration and other issues, conservative elite gatekeepers grew very angry, because they don't like him and or they don't believe Trump had a founding father's epiphany or a come-to-Jesus moment. They think the man is lying his pants off. We conservative patriots are here to tell you, this is just not the case. If Trump gets elected, he will dance to the tune that put him in office, because the average everyday American is sick and tired of rigged games, hoity toity prejudiced bigoted gate keepers threatening to sit it out, and the internecine attackers who never gave Trump anything but grief from the very start, then was forced by their hands to defend his new found positions from the git go; as from that point on he had to "preemptively attack" all comers. That's what this is about. It's right and wrong and self defense by the most primal political means. Thus, we true patriotic conservatives fully support Edwin Meese III's 11th rule ban on internecine fighting in America's 2016 Presidential election. And we can start with most of the N.R.O. popcorn gallery complainers. Let them be the first to come foreword and stop the vitriolic attacks. Mr. Meese, he's a hero, once the man in the ring himself now our conservative patriarch. His wisdom calls upon all parties to do the right thing, and he is to be commended for doing so. But the others? Try giving peace a chance.
