Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Tom Parker issued the following concurring opinion in a case last week that ruled 8-1 that unborn children are human beings and the state’s wrongful death law can include them when it comes to destroying human embryos at an IVF fertility clinic.

PARKER, Chief Justice (concurring specially).

A good judge follows the Constitution instead of policy, except when the Constitution itself commands the judge to follow a certain policy. In these cases, that means upholding the sanctity of unborn life, including unborn life that exists outside the womb. ---More...
