If there's a poster child for the implementation of a disastrous immigration policy, her name is Angela Merkel. By throwing Germany's doors wide open, the Chancellor has become the face of a refugee free-for-all that has left her country - and much of Europe - in turmoil. Now, Merkel is facing re-election. You can tell it's not going well for her because, after years of anything-goes rhetoric, she's trying to backpedal. Apparently, she's decided it's time to get rid of a good chunk of the 1.2 million refugees who entered Germany. The problem is (go figure) they're reluctant to leave their newfound alpine paradise and return to their war-torn desert dystopia.
So Merkel has decided to start paying them.
Angela Merkel will offer cash handouts worth millions of pounds for migrants to leave Germany in an effort to silence criticism of her ‘open-door’ border policy. In a highly-embarrassing U-turn over the ill-fated plan, which saw 1.2million migrants flock to the country, Mrs Merkel has now vowed to send many of them home. The German chancellor agreed a package of measures to speed up the deportation process for an estimated 450,000 migrants who have been rejected asylum. The controversial plan, which marks a significant toughening of previous proposals, includes a £76million scheme that will offer migrants cash incentives to

In other words, Merkel's poorly conceived plan has not only lead to rape, murder, vandalism, and violence, it's also going to be really, really, expensive. If the German people thought their immigration policy was a disaster before, one has to wonder how they're going to feel about throwing another £76 million at it. The cash may - or may not - incentivize self-deportation but it's an awfully steep price to fix only part of the problem Merkel created. Since many feel the whole fiasco should have been avoided in the first place, doesn't the massive price tag just compound the problem? Democrats? There's a lesson here - both political and practical - should you choose to learn it. I know, I know... "Not interested."
