Carbon tax issue

When are Canadians going to start to realize that our governments, both federally and provincially, use us a ‘sacrificial lambs.’ The recent trade wars with China and the USA is causing concern for we poor consumers who will pay more for products from China. Unlike USA or China, Canada has a carbon tax on our industries or fossil fuel users, like those of us who fill up our carbon burning vehicles.
What makes me angry is that I am FORCED to pay this tax, put on us and Canadian industries to ‘teach us a lesson’ and to punish us for using polluting carbon emitting products. In the meantime, we are importing from the USA, China, India and other countries where there is NO carbon tax. Their environmental footprint is thousands of times worse than Canada. All these countries use coal as a source of energy while Canada has phased it out. BUT we sure can sell this ‘dastardly’ product (BC included) to other countries that burn it with reckless abandon, pollute their air, water and land and sell their products for cheap to us. Reports have indicated that China is building massive amounts of coal burning facilities and will be using stockpiles of coal that they have been storing purchased from Canada and the USA for years! There is a missing link in all of this. Why is our Federal government NOT imposing a CARBON tax on goods coming from countries that do not implement this tax on their own industry and population? The Federal Government is big on words but cheap on action. They feel comfort that they are taxing Canadians while allowing other countries get away tax free and sell to us. We polite Canadians have to start to demand some better governing from our ‘elected’ officials and now would be a good time to start.
