Dalton McGuinty is Out of Touch with Ontario Families

Cellphones in the Classroom?

NEWS: Dalton McGuinty demonstrated yet again today just how out of touch he is with the values and concerns of hard-working Ontario families and parents when he said he is open to the idea of the use of cellphones in the classroom.

With cellphones in the class room and Dalton McGuinty’s sex-ed classes for six year olds, it’s only a matter of time until we have “sexting” in our schools. Shouldn’t our kids be learning math and science instead? Cellphones in the classroom is an absurd idea. So absurd that Dalton McGuinty will likely backtrack on it within days. Is this an example of McGuinty’s claim that he has a “more intelligent understanding” of the concerns of families? Clearly, Dalton McGuinty has changed and is not the same person Ontarians thought they were electing years ago. QUOTES: “Cellphones in the classroom is absurd, and it’s just another example of how out of touch Dalton McGuinty has become from the values and concerns of hard-working Ontario families and parents.” -- Lisa McLeod, MPP, Nepean-Carleton “First Dalton McGuinty proposed sex-ed classes for six year olds. Now he thinks schools should allow cellphones in the classroom? Ontario’s children should be learning math and science in the classroom.” -- Lisa McLeod, MPP, Nepean-Carleton QUICK FACTS: Dalton McGuinty backtracked on his plan for sex-ed for six year olds just days after the idea created a firestorm of opposition among parents. Dalton McGuinty claimed he has a “more intelligent understanding” of the needs of parents than anyone else. [Toronto Sun, September 13, 2010] CONTACT: Alan Sakach, alan.sakach@ontariopc.net
