“Secretary Kerry knows as well as anyone that negotiating lasting peace in this region of the world is difficult but it’s not productive to express his frustration in this way. This remark also implies Israel should ignore the pact between Abbas and Hamas. Last time I checked, the U.S. didn’t negotiate with terrorist organizations and we shouldn’t expect the Israeli government to either.”....And Begich is asking the right question. Kerry may be a lethargic dullard who's built a political career around desperate foot-in-mouth attempts to provide evidence of his 'lofty intellect,' but he's not really the problem here. He's not helping, but he's not the source of our consternation. U.S. policy is the issue. The real problem is that - in yet another example of its disastrous foreign policy - the Obama administration has decided to pressure Israel into cutting deals with people who have said they will never recognize a Jewish state and have vowed the nation's complete and utter destruction. The insanity of that approach cannot be overstated. Does anyone really believe that a little appeasement will somehow instill long-term respect in a bunch of murderous anti-Semitic zealots? Yesterday, Ted Cruz called for Kerry's resignation on the floor of the Senate: I like Cruz, but please. Let’s gets serious. An administration that will tolerate the presence of people like Eric Holder and Kathleen Sebelius will have no problem letting Kerry remain in place. It would be an absolute miracle if Kerry left his post. Kerry has tried to walk back his "apartheid" rhetoric by saying he wishes he could "rewind the tape" and choose different phrasing. That's all well and good but it's too late. The damage is done. If that's the administration's first instinct, the world knows where they stand. What politicians - on both sides of the aisle - should be demanding is this: The administration must either develop a coherent pro-Israel strategy, or it must remove itself from the Mid-East stage. As it is, John Kerry's flailing is simply an illogical embarrassment. He's only making matters worse. Oh, by the Way, if John Kerry ever did resign, he could always return to his mid-'60s musical roots, seen here in file footage:
