I'm always baffled when the left uses Colin Powell as a defense or a positive example. This is the man who basically sold the Iraq war which was, as any delusional bleeding heart will tell you, a 'super-evil blood-for-oil monstrosity, predicated on a lie.' However, the second he can be used to prop up one of their terrible candidates, Democrats forget all about their deeply-felt Iraq war rancor and hold Powell up as a sterling example of American greatness and altruism.
Hillary Clinton has been doing this for months, in a failed attempt to salvage her completely-decimated credibility.
She never misses a chance to remind everyone that "Colin Powell used a private email server too." Never mind that the circumstances were completely different. Forget about the fact that it was a radically different era. Colin Powell did it, and he's perfect. So Hillary can do it too.
On Friday, the Clinton campaign took this line of thought to new heights by actually claiming that Powell once told Hillary to use a private server. Allegedly, this (probably fictional) conversation occurred at a dinner party - after Hillary had begun her tenure as Secretary of State, and after she'd already set up the private server.
Powell was none too pleased, and his office released a statement saying, basically, "no."
Still, Clinton surrogates kept repeating the line. So Powell decided to tell a reporter from People Magazine that he's not interested in being Hillary's patsy:
“Her people have been trying to pin it on me,” Powell, 79, told PEOPLE Saturday night at the Apollo in the Hamptons 2016 Night of Legends fête in East Hampton, New York.
“The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did,” Powell added.
Why does the former diplomat believe this to be the case?
“Why do you think?”

This all seems fairly cut-and-dried. Hillary's trying to throw Powell under the bus, and he's not having it.
But, just for fun, let's pretend she's telling the truth. I know, I know. That never happens so it's hard to imagine. For a moment, just go with it.
The proper response to Hillary's claim that Powell recommended a private server is "so what?" Powell's supposed advice is irrelevant. If someone tells me I should rob a bank, and then I get caught robbing a bank, I'm the guy who robbed the bank.
Hillary still knew it was wrong, still lied about sending classified material, still lied about handing everything over, still deleted God-knows-what from her server, and was still using it to try and dodge scrutiny.
The "no excuse" lady's latest excuse is just as pathetic as all the others.
