Fox News: Pagliano a 'devastating' witness in FBI's Hillary investigation

The Clintons lie in all kinds of different ways. One, of course, is when they deny something that turns out to be true. They’ll continue doing that way past the point when everyone knows they’re lying. But another way in which they lie is when they claim to be happy about things that actually terrify them. So when Hillary claims she’s “delighted” that her former IT guy Brian Pagliano is cooperating with the FBI in its investigation of her schlock, homebrew e-mail server, that’s sort of like the time General Motors Chairman Rick Wagoner said in a press release that he was “pleased” with the company’s performance in a year when it lost $38 billion.
He wasn’t pleased. And she’s not delighted. I’m always circumspect about talking up stories that come from anonymous sources, and that’s what we’ve got with Catherine Herridge’s piece published by Fox News on Friday about just how devastating a witness Pagliano is proving to be. I think reporters should name their sources. When they don’t – regardless of the excuse the source gives for wanting to be anonymous – we’re being asked personally trust the reporter in judging the veracity of the story. I don’t like that, and it has nothing to do with Catherine Herridge one way or the other. I just think it’s a bad journalistic practice. So I’m going to note that concern before I excerpt her piece, but I’m going to excerpt it anyway because I know there’s a very real possibility that the Obama Justice Department will try to cover up what the FBI learned in this investigation to protect Hillary. And if that happens, people who spoke anonymously might be the only ones who can tell us what was really learned. With all that said, Herridge reports:

Former Hillary Clinton IT specialist Bryan Pagliano, a key witness in the email probe who struck an immunity deal with the Justice Department, has told the FBI a range of details about how her personal email system was set up, according to an intelligence source close to the case who called him a “devastating witness.” The source said Pagliano told the FBI who had access to the former secretary of state’s system – as well as when – and what devices were used, amounting to a roadmap for investigators. "Bryan Pagliano is a devastating witness and, as the webmaster, knows exactly who had access to [Clinton's] computer and devices at specific times. His importance to this case cannot be over-emphasized," the intelligence source said. The source, who is not authorized to speak on the record due to the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation, said Pagliano has provided information allowing investigators to knit together the emails with other evidence, including images of Clinton on the road as secretary of state. The cross-referencing of evidence could help investigators pinpoint potential gaps in the email record. "Don't forget all those photos with her using various devices and it is easy to track the whereabouts of her phone," the source said. "It is still boils down to a paper case. Did you email at this time from your home or elsewhere using this device? And here is a picture of you and your aides holding the devices." A source close to Pagliano did not dispute the basic details of what was provided to the FBI, but said the highly skilled former State Department IT specialist had met with the bureau on a "limited basis" and was at best a "peripheral" player in the investigation.
The mere fact that they’re looking into it this so closely shows that the FBI is taking the case very seriously, as does the fact that they granted Pagliano immunity in order to learn what he knew. The FBI certainly realizes a potential indictment of Hillary Clinton will be a political hot potato for the Attorney General Loretta Lynch. It’s going to have to present a case so compelling that it makes Lynch conclude it would be more difficult to decline an indictment than it would to go ahead with one. One issue that’s sometimes overlooked is that Pagliano was actually a State Department employee at the time, but he was also utilized by Hillary to set up this private server in her home. Hillary claims that she personally paid him to do that, but it still raises all kinds of questions about whether she had him moonlighting while on the taxpayers’ clock and so forth – not to mention that possibility that he may have known he was doing something he shouldn’t have been, albeit at the behest of his boss. Remember, when Congress first tried to question Pagliano about all this, he took the Fifth. You don’t do that when you think you’re in the clear, and that’s all the more reason to believe that his immunity deal is likely to yield some serious information. So when Hillary claims to be “delighted” that Pagliano is cooperating, that’s about as big as the many other lies you’ve heard her tell. She won’t admit it, and she does her best in public to act like this whole thing is a big nothingburger, but Hillary Clinton is terrified of what this FBI investigation will produce. As she should be.
