Gov. Jerry Brown's Treasonous Trip To China

On a trip to China to meet with the Communist dictator President Xi Jinping, California Governor Jerry Brown is signaling to the world his fidelity to the unratified and dubious Paris Climate treaty, in spite of President Donald Trump's recent withdrawal from the pact. Brown should be investigated for colluding with a known foreign enemy upon his return to the United States--a federal republic of 50 states of which he is but one governor. It is unconstitutional for a state to supplant federal powers and act on its own when dealing with other nations. Brown's latest trip to China to enter into a treaty as a sovereign nation is unconstitutional on several levels, and violates the Logan Act. However, the left is claiming that the agreement Brown signed with President Xi Jinping is "non-binding," and therefore legal. "Non-binding?" How non-binding is it when it directly impacts the California taxpayers with exponentially higher energy costs, gas tax increases, and draconian regulations on the trucking industry, just to name a few of the implications?
"California will resist this misguided and insane course of action," Brown ranted in a statement after President Trump's announcement to withdraw from the Paris Climate Change accord. "Trump is AWOL but California is on the field, ready for battle." Brown also predicted that Americans "will not tolerate this kind of deviant behavior from the highest office in the land." With Trump "going AWOL, China is emerging as the leader on climate change for the world," Brown said to the Bay Area News Group before leaving for China. Sounding a little balmy, Brown said, "We can't wait. This is an existential threat. The ice is melting, the temperature is rising, the habitat is being destroyed. We have to make a turn, as humanity, if we want to survive." The Logan Act states:
"Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."

Brown's Illegal Alliances

Remember when Gov. Jerry Brown traveled to Vatican City in 2015 to discuss climate change with Pope Francis? It was clear then Brown was seeking to burnish his legacy as a world climate change leader. "In the spirit of the pope's encyclical, this unprecedented gathering of global leaders is a wake-up call to face up to the common threats of climate change and human exploitation," Brown said in a statement. "This is about the future of humanity and how we as humans live and treat one another and the natural world around us." Gov. Jerry Brown had already joined with other states and governments in Europe, Canada and China to pursue reductions in greenhouse gas emissions greater than those called for in the Paris pact. "Along with the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg, California in 2015 helped organize the Under2 Coalition, made up of state and local governments worldwide that have committed to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions 80 to 95 percent by 2050. By contrast, the United States committed to reduce emissions only up to 28 percent by 2025 under the Paris agreement," McClatchy reported. "More than 170 governments on six continents have since joined the coalition, including the states of Washington, Oregon, Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota and New Hampshire." "After President Trump rejected the Paris Climate treaty, which had never been ratified by the Senate, the European Union announced that it would work with a climate confederacy of secessionist states," Daniel Greenfield wrote at Frontpage Mag. "....the secessionist governments of California, New York and Washington have announced that they will unilaterally and illegally enter into a foreign treaty rejected by the President of the United States." Greenfield explained that the Constitution is very clear about this: "No state shall enter into any treaty." Brown is undermining the united front of the national government in the face of the enemy. "California will resist this misguided and insane course of action," Governor Brown ranted. The logic of "resistance" has inevitably turned into treason.

Brown's Treason Isn't New

This isn't Brown's first dip into the treason pool. In October 2013, California Gov. Jerry Brown, together with the Governors of Oregon and Washington and the British Columbia Premier, signed the Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate and Energy, "to align climate change policies and promote clean energy," I reported in 2015. The Pacific Coast Collaborative links with the West Coast Infrastructure Exchange (WCX), a compact between California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, formed in 2013 to promote "the type of new thinking necessary to solve the West Coast's infrastructure crisis." And the WCX is linked to the Clinton Foundation's Clinton Global Initiative. "California isn't waiting for the rest of the world before it takes action on climate change," said Gov. Brown at the time. "Today, California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia are all joining together to reduce greenhouse gases." Read more here. Brown's treaty with Oregon, Washington and British Columbia revealed high level appointees in the California governor's office, other "engaged governors," and the White House, engrossed in a scheme to define "a nationally coordinated, multi-year states strategy' focused on driving outcomes contemplated by the President's climate action plan, 111d, resilient infrastructure and international treaty objectives at scale."

This scheme was made possible with funding from "major environmental donors," billionaires Tom Steyer and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, according to attorney Chris Horner, the Senior Legal Fellow with Energy & Environment Legal Institute. The current Climate Alliance Brown references is between of California, New York, Washington, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Oregon, Colorado, Hawaii, Virginia and Rhode Island. "We're a powerful state government. We have nine other states that agree with us," Brown boasted. "Two more and Jim Jones' old pal could have his own confederacy," Greenfield said. "States cannot and are not allowed to unilaterally choose to "uphold" a treaty rejected by the President," said Greenfield. "Their leaders are certainly not allowed to travel to enemy nations to inform foreign powers of their treasonous designs and to solicit their aid against the policies of the United States government. This is all the more treasonous at a time when the United States is on a collision course with the People's Republic of China over North Korea's nuclear weapons and trade agreements."

Gov. Jerry Brown's trip of treason should be a real trigger warning for the US Department of Justice

Governor Brown's trip to China is being paid for by the Energy Foundation, whose donors include many of the same donors mentioned above, including Tom Steyer, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and George Soros. "Steyer has accused President Trump of treason for rejecting the unconstitutional Paris Climate Treaty. But who are the real traitors here?" Greenfield asked. Gov. Jerry Brown's trip of treason should be a real trigger warning for the US Department of Justice.
