Looking through my window I realize how much we have been through. My father came to this country fleeing a failed state at war. When I was young we grew up with a simple mantra, tell the truth, be honest, work hard and good things will come. I remember walking down the street near my house, holding my moms hand as the police officer stopped his patrol car and waved us by.

I remember the local butcher smiling at us as we strolled along in his small shop. I remember getting back home on Friday afternoons and playing with my brother and friends in the wetlands behind my house. Things were different, people were different. Today, that local butcher shop is a Wall-Mart, that police officer isn’t waving people by - he’s giving them tickets for jay walking. The so-called environmental movement in my municipality ran a whole campaign on protecting the wetlands mentioned above, yet when elected started the whole draining process required to build luxury condos behind and around my house. Things have changed. I remember my father talking to friends about the humanitarian crises around the world; from Palestine, to the old Soviet-Union, and the chaos that had set place during its dismantlement. I remember how avid people were to discuss these issues and emphasized the value that a human life held. Just a few days ago, I sat in on a seminar held at the University I’m enrolled in. A young lady of Chinese descent presented. The subject was China’s one child policy. She enthusiastically boosted the success of the latter, mentioning that it was good for the environment and an implementation on a global scale would serve to reduce world population and mend the global warming, climate change, seasonal fluctuations or whatever the IPCC is calling it in our days. To my horror, the crowd of University graduates and undergraduates roared into breathtaking applause after the eugenics propaganda campaign that was spurted out by this mislead and confused young lady. Things have changed. It seems that the latest whatever by Apple or the droning sound of a video game has replaced the value that held a human life. Globalism seems to be the new trend. The destruction of local industries, the exportation of local jobs and the prolonged recessions have made my hometown and most of my Province home to an increasing crime rate, a decreasing average quality of living and an exponentially increasing size of government. I often hear Canadians say, “Well we are better than the States!” But I wonder how so? Is it the never ending potholes in the roads, the waiting lists in our hospital, the degradation of our educational system or the establishment of a nanny police state that make us better? It seems politicians go by, but the policies are the same. Regression and distraction is all they have to offer. While the media has become a disinformation machine, it appears that everyone knows what team our Montreal Canadians are playing tonight and can recite fairly easily the starting line up, goals scored and plus and minus average of any player on the team but wouldn’t be able to tell you about NAFTA, The Federal Reserve or Halliburton. Things have changed. While venturing into this New World Order, a movement is rising. A cluster of hope, a few that hold the human cause at heart. United by our will to be free and the quest for a better lifestyle, a grass roots movement is slowly but surely knitting a community of freedom lovers. Reducing the size of government, instituting regulations to protect our local business and discouraging the exportation of our jobs is the agenda. In the wise words of a true patriot “The answer to 1984 is 1776. It is time Canada had it’s 1776. “ Canadian Party for a Republic - Le Parti pour une République Canadienne
