Vaya con dios, Lincoln Chafee

Lincoln Chafee wanders away from the presidential race. ...Now we'll NEVER go metric!

Don't look now, but another of Hillary Clinton's debate-stage props has decided to call it a day. First, Jim Webb decided he was bored with the Democrat party's coronation process. Now, Lincoln Chafee has come to the same conclusion. He announced his decision to exit the race at today's Women's Leadership Forum in Washington.

According to Chafee:
"As you know I have been campaigning on a platform of Prosperity Through Peace. But after much thought I have decided to end my campaign for president today. I would like to take this opportunity one last time to advocate for a chance be given to peace."
Yeah, we're not entirely sure what that means either. However, we're willing to bet that all four Lincoln Chafee supporters are heartbroken today. Their dream of America's metric conversion must return to its slumber until, like Brigadoon, another hapless Democrat resuscitates it for a day or two. Really, the only surprising thing about Chafee's run is that there was someone out there who thought it was a good idea. He never managed to get past 2% in the polls and, as CNN reports, his career's been on a downhill slide for years.
Facing long odds and slumping in the polls, Chafee decided not to run for reelection in 2014. He told CNN last month that he made that decision because he wanted to run for president.
Unfortunately for Lincoln Chafee, "failing up" wasn't enough to drag him back to political viability. Heck, not even a catchy theme song from Aimee Mann and Ted Leo could do it...
