Roasts Schumer's hypocrisy

McConnell promises in no uncertain terms: 'We're going to confirm Judge Gorsuch this week'

I know, I know. Most conservatives place about as much faith in Mitch McConnell as they place in the healing benefits of copper bracelets. However, his promise - made on Fox News Sunday - is about as unconditional as it gets. Gorsuch, he claims, will be confirmed. ...And he'll be confirmed by the end of this week. As he told Chris Wallace:
"What I'm telling you is that Judge Gorsuch is going to be confirmed. The way in which that occurs is in the hands of the Democratic minority. I think during the course of the week we will find out exactly how this will end, but it will end with his confirmation. ...I think it is noteworthy that no Supreme Court justice has ever in the history of our country been stopped by a partisan filibuster ever. In fact, the business of filibustering judges is a fairly recent invention, ironically, of the now-minority in the Senate - the Democrats - and in particular, Sen. Schumer convinced his colleagues after Bush 43 got elected to start filibustering judges.”
In other words; if enough Dems abandon Schumer's folly, allowing Republicans to confirm Gorsuch via the standard 60 vote threshold, that's great. If not, they'll use Harry Reid's infamous 'nuclear option.' Either way, it's going to happen. Wallace pressed McConnell, asking if the vote would take place by Friday. McConnell replied "Yes. We're going to confirm Judge Gorsuch this week." There is absolutely no wiggle room there. So, either McConnell knows something about the increasing number of Democrat defectors that we don't, or the nuclear option is on the way. Either way, we'll know if he's right within five days.
