McGuinty “Energy” Record: Skyrocketing Bills, Bloated Bureacracy, and Fancy Jobs for Lib

Ontario families are seeing their hydro bills skyrocket to pay for Dalton McGuinty’s expensive energy experiments, and an Ontario Power Authority (OPA) that has ballooned from 15 employees in 2005 to over 300 employees with nothing to show for it.

Originally conceived as a “virtual” and “transitional” agency, overall OPA expenses have exploded by a staggering 465%. The number of people making over $100,000 at OPA has grown from 6 in 2005 to 75, including former McGuinty spokesperson Ben Chin, who made $185,000 last year. Longtime Liberals Patrick Monaghan, Lyn McLeod, and Adele Hurley are also on the OPA Board. Meanwhile, according to the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, the cost of these Liberal energy schemes, taxes and fees -- such as the HST and Samsung deal -- will add an additional $732 a year to family hydro bills by 2015.
