Multiple Sclerosis Society Offers “Saving Face” Apology To Fired 90-Year-Old

I might be wrong, but if I was asked to choose which scenario I appreciated more, someone doing the right thing for the wrong reason, or someone doing the wrong thing for the right reason, I would choose the latter.

When word got out that the Multiple Sclerosis Society had fired a 90-year-old volunteer, that had worked with the organization for 60 years because she didn’t understand pronouns, the proverbial sh*t hit the fan. There was so much negative feedback and threats to cut off donations, that the apology that the organization finally offered yesterday doesn’t feel heartfelt.

Fearing becoming the Bud Light of non-profit organizations

In case you missed it, the woman in question is Fran Itkoff. Fran not only worked for the company for 60 years, but she also lost her husband to the disease. Still, because Fran was confused about pronouns the organization forced her out.

“I was confused, I didn’t know what it was, what it meant,” Itkoff told Libs of TikTok. “I’ve seen it on a couple of letters that had come in after the person’s name they had the pronouns, but I didn’t know what that meant.”

Fran was confused about how the “she/her” pronouns were labeled as all-inclusive if it referred to only females and not males.

Obviously feeling the heat, and fearing becoming the Bud Light of non-profit organizations, the MS society finally issued a statement. They wrote that it had apologized:

“to our longtime, dedicated volunteer Fran Itkoff” after the group asked the volunteer to “step down from her role as a group leader because of statements made that we viewed as not aligning with our recently implemented diversity, equity and inclusion policy.”

The real problem here is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

“We realize now that we made a mistake, and we should have had more conversations with Fran before making this decision. While we acted at the time with the best intentions, we did not have clear protocols in place. We should have spent more time with Fran to help her understand why, as an organization, we are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive movement where everyone has equitable access to the care, connections, and support they need to live their best lives.”
“We apologized to Fran directly and reached out to her to find a way to continue to work together. In the spirit of continuous learning, we are focused on evaluating our processes and fortifying our learning to ensure our team members are equipped on the best ways to implement all of our policies…”

The real problem here is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), a disease that is destroying the minds and reasoning skills of every person, company, or organization that it comes in contact with. Yes, the organization did the right thing, but it rings hollow. These are stone cold leftists that don’t care anything about Fran. Oh sure, they eventually said the right things, but they haven’t changed their ways. DEI won’t allow them to. This was a “saving face” apology and nothing more.

This leopard has DEI spots, and they are ingrained and won’t change. I wouldn’t give them the time of day, far less a monetary donation.
