Isaac Newton’s First Law of Motion is that a body in motion stays in motion unless acted on by another force. This law seems to apply to more than just the physical world for it seems to apply to society as well. It appears to apply to divisions of society, like the Royal Society.
Isaac Newton was one of the earliest and certainly the most distinguished member of the Royal Society. He joined at a time when all members meet weekly to discuss their difficulties and progress in their wide range of scientific interests. These meetings fostered the principles of the English Scientific Method. These principles were those of openness, measurability and repeatability that have been the hallmarks of quality science for the last 350 years.
On Nov 19, 2009 the scientific world was shocked in to admitting what we all had secretly always know, human caused climate change was a FRAUD. What had been publically paid for and would have directed massive public spending was also being claimed to protection as ‘private’. The Hadley hacking exposed what should have always been open and was considered ‘theft’ by some for a brief time. That indefensible position was quickly abandoned.
Fast forward to Jan 5, 2010 and a visit to the Royal Meteorological Society (RMS) has a rather shocking surprise. There is an article lamenting the “Failure in Copenhagen” to bind us in carbon tax shackles. In addition the RMS still had on offer 23 separate ‘instructional’ DVD’s or pdf lectures by the Charlatan in Charge of the Hadley Climate Alchemy Unit. The RMS is a division of the Royal Society (RS) and their website was even worse, listing the following:
- Royal Society Restates the Science of Copenhage
- Preventing Dangerous Climate Change
- Joint NERC-Met Office Climate Science Statement
- Science and Sustainable Agriculture
- Geo-engineering the Climate
Apparently the director or some errant webmaster had failed to notice the Hadley event three fortnights hence. The RS and RMS are private but the Met Office (Met) is a government function and their website is choked with ‘climate change’ propaganda. There are at present 1,400 Royal Society Members (RSM) and they’ve long since dispensed with the antiquated ‘open exchange of ideas’ notion.

And now, the frigid reality of this new decade. England is gripped in the worst winter storm in living memory. The renegade forecaster, Piers Corbyn of Weather Action Network, has predicted this chill will last until at least February. Since his predictions have about ten times the accuracy of the Met or the RMS it is easy to believe that this will break all records in the last 250 years.
Meanwhile pensioners are buying old books to burn, warming themselves at a fraction of the cost of coal. Even in a long established land of literate people this method of ‘climate control’ has only a finite capability. What to do when the old folks run out of old books ? You can put a ‘cheery’ fireplace DVD in the ‘tele’ and if you turn up the volume you can hear the digital logs crackle. Problem is that at only 100 watts you can’t even warm your tea with it. And that presupposes that there is still electrical power.
You could always visit the Met and RMS websites and warm yourself with the threats of the “barbecue” summer of 2009 that they promised and you never got. Or warm yourself with the Met warnings that this will be the warmest winter on record as soon as it stops being cold.
Royal Society Members: Worthless by their inaction
Which, brings us back to good Sir Newton and the ‘unless acted on by another force’ part of his Law. The RSM could gather the courage to force the RS, the RMS and the Met into admitting that there is not now and never has been any human cause for climate change. If the Royal Society Members cannot or will not act to restore the principles of the English Scientific Method then you may have an additional source of warmth. Track down a RSM, seize his membership certificate and burn that. By their inaction they have proven their society membership certificate is as worthless as old books.
