Sharpton calls 'emergency meeting' over 'appalling' white Oscar nominees

To the extent that there remain serious racial issues in this country, the black community deserves to be represented by serious people - and I mean both left and right, and yes you can find them - who speak with serioius voices on these matters.
But the news media, which I become more convinced by the day is racist in the extreme, won't let that happen because every time there is a racial matter real or imagined, they lavish attention on a clown. That would be Al Sharpton. And because he knows he will get attention every time he speaks, Sharpton lurches from one manufactured issue the next, constantly bringing high drama and implied threats, and often making things into racial matters that are not racial matters at all. And once again yesterday, the news media treated him like the royalty they have turned him into, dutifully reporting his words and his proposed actions:
The Rev. Al Sharpton was left fuming mad after the Oscars revealed its all-white list of nominees for this year's Oscar awards on Thursday. "The movie industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets," Sharpton quipped in a statement released later in the afternoon. Sharpton, a critic of the lack of diversity in Hollywood, also announced he was holding an "emergency meeting" next week to address the issue.

"I have called an emergency meeting early next week in Hollywood with the task force to discuss possible action around the Academy Awards," he said. The prestigious awards ceremony was widely criticized after its nominees for best actor, best actress, and best director were all white. In the past two decades this has happened only one other time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Now first of all, when something happens only twice in 20 years, that's called an anomaly and not something you get your knickers in a twist about. But to even say that much is to take Sharpton's complaint, and Sharpton himself, way too seriously. As for this "emergency meeting" with the "task force" to "discuss possible action," you know that kind of "action" Sharpton takes whenever he can pin someone down as a potential racist, right? He shakes them down for money, which of course he sorely needs since he's $4.5 in arrears on his taxes. This guy is a media creation through and through. Granted, it was his advocacy for the fraudulent Tawanna Brawley and her "Central Park rape" claim that put him on the map back in the '80s. But once he got there, he stayed, and the media continued to treat him as a go-to guy on matters of race - even to the point where he was take somewhat seriously as a presidential candidate and was given (and still has) his own show on MSNBC. I am calling racist on the media according to the left's own standards. They're the ones who cry racism when they think you're treating minorities in a condescending way, which is hilarious because they are the champions of that very thing. What defines condescension more than to take a clown like Sharpton and assume that this is the guy who speaks for more than 30 million Americans? The media must not think much of black people if they really think Sharpton is their spokesman. Of course, we wait with bated breath for the media's blow-by-blow coverage of this upcoming "emergency meeting" of the "task force." Or they could just skip to the end and tell us how much money Sharpton manages to extort out of Hollywood, since that's all this has ever been about.
