It will be interesting to see if Sharpton takes any further steps in an attempt to stop the random killing of police officers. Don’t bet on it.

Sharpton on NYPD cop’s murder—“This has to stop!”

NYPD officer Randolph Holder, 33, was shot to death in Harlem Tuesday night. The five-year veteran of the department had been on patrol of public housing in East Harlem at the time he was killed. Around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired. Police spotted several men, one of whom stole a bicycle at gunpoint and began to flee. Holder and another officer caught up to the man and shots were exchanged. Holder was shot once in the forehead and was killed. The suspect, Tyrone (Peanut) Howard, 30, was arrested a few blocks away.
He had been shot in the leg but has since been released from hospital and has been arraigned on first-degree murder as well as other charges. This was not a case of the execution of a police officer killed simply because he or she was a cop. Howard was a career criminal who was wanted for another shooting at the time he allegedly shot and killed Holder. As ABC News reports, Howard was arrested in October of last year for selling crack to an undercover police officer. The prosecutor wanted a seven-year-sentence but the thug ended up in a diversion program because he was a non-violent offender. Apparently prosecutors missed the fact Howard was arrested in 2009 in connection with the shooting of an 11-year-old child and a 78-year-old. Welcome to Billy de Blasio’s New York City. However the fact this was not strictly a killing for the sake of killing a cop didn’t stop the slime who support Black Lives Matter from celebrating the officer’s death and cheering the man who “killed the pig.”

Although Al Sharpton has been silent on police shootings, he tweeted Tuesday night, “My sincere prayers for the family of NYPD officer Randolph Holder killed in East Harlem last night. This has to stop!” [Emphasis added] At first the tweet seems strange coming from the man who, along with Obama and Eric Holder (hopefully no relation) is responsible for the rise of and praise for Black Lives Matter that encourages the killing of the nation’s men and women in blue. But perhaps not. Much like Bill Clinton’s defense in the Monica Lewinsky fiasco (it depends on what “is” is), what Sharpton meant is dependent upon what “this” means. You see, Officer Holder, a native of Guyana, was black. It is doubtful Sharpton is really concerned about cops being killed. It is more likely he is sending a message to his beloved supporters not to kill black police officers. After all, black lives do matter or so we are always told. It will be interesting to see if Sharpton takes any further steps in an attempt to stop the random killing of police officers. Don’t bet on it.
