Back in March, the GOP filed two lawsuits seeking to obtain email correspondence from Hillary's top aides to Mrs. Clinton during her tenure as Secretary of State. The idea, obviously, was to see if the emails from her lackeys matched up with what she'd turned over, or if she'd been deleting her professional correspondence along with all those "private" messages. In addition, the messages from subordinates could provide context to emails that have already been made public.
The State Department's attorneys have responded to the request saying: Sure, we can put all of that together. ...But you'll have to sit tight for a while. It'll take us about 75 years. The State Department said it would take 75 years for the release of emails from top aides to Hillary Clinton while she was serving as secretary of State. Lawyers said it would take that long to compile the 450,000 pages of records from former Clinton aides Cheryl Mills, Jacob Sullivan and Patrick Kennedy, according to a court filing from last week, which was first reported by CNN. "Given the Department's current [Freedom of Information Act] (FOIA) workload and the complexity of these documents, it can process about 500 pages a month, meaning it would take approximately 16-and-2/3 years to complete the review of the Mills documents, 33-and-1/3 years to finish the review of the Sullivan documents, and 25 years to wrap up the review of the Kennedy documents -- or 75 years in total," the State Department said in the filing.If you're looking for a reason, your betters are telling you to look in a mirror. According to State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau, you're just demanding too much transparency from "the most transparent administration in history." If you hadn't filed so many FOIA requests - if you hadn't demanded so much clarity from this crooked regime - they'd be able to get to things more quickly.
"The volume of FOIA requests received by the Department has tripled since 2008. In fiscal year 2015 alone we received approximately 22,000 FOIA requests," Trudeau said. "The requests are also frequently more complex and seek larger volumes of documents, requiring significantly more time, resources, and interagency coordination. While we have increased staffing for our FOIA office, our available resources are still nonetheless constrained.""Tripled since 2008" you say? Gosh. We simply can't imagine why. Regardless, it looks like we're going to endure a bit of a wait if we want those emails. Our convoluted, bloated, and ultimately corrupt government just can't get to it as fast as they'd like to.
