Luna, the CockatooCanada Free Press is claiming Luna, the Cockatoo, as official mascot for its fledgling new website www.cfpcrimewatch.com. Crime Watch chronicles the antics of all the petty thieves, thugs, burglars, scam artists and murderers, none of whom--including Willie Lumpkin found by police and cut out of his crawl space by Buffalo police on the same day--would be smart enough to outwit Luna, the Cockatoo. Determined to nab the killer and save the victim whose chilling cries of “Help me!” “Help me!” resonated out on the street, Trenton, New Jersey cops didn’t need bullets in bringing this perp under control. Neighbours hearing repeated cries for “Help” coming from a nearby house had reported the raucous cries to 911. But lonesome Luna had only been trying to draw attention to the fact that she was home alone and didn’t much like it. Calling attention to her lonely plight, she had begun squawking loudly, “Help me!” “Help me!” after her owners had to leave home for a doctor’s appointment.

Not only did nearby neighbors and passers-by believe the distress calls were for real, so did the cops, who battered down the door to stop the murder in progress. This is not the first time that Luna brought the house down by crying wolf. A few years ago, she also mimicked the sound of a child crying that was real enough to have neighbours calling in Children’s Services.
