We talk a lot about the country we will leave our children and grandchildren. So far, we are doing a crappy job.

It occurs to me that we are terrible listeners. When you look at the enthusiasm of young people for Bernie Sanders, instead of dismissing them as typical, idealistic, college students, we need to hear the real message. Maybe they are telling us they are scared, disillusioned, hopeless and angry. We need to hear, understand and embrace them. We know that most of Sanders ideas are dangerous and destructive. They would ultimately sink this country. It is our responsibility to be the adults, take the lead, elect a leader and then develop policies where those young people can achieve at least as much as our generation. In the meantime, we should try to bring the young into the fold by educating them, listening to them and acknowledge their concerns. Frankly, I'm scared of the future. I have yet to be inspired to support any candidate. I think any Republican would be better than either Democrat. Why? Because they didn't do anything to fix the mess while they controlled the Presidency and Congress, they have given us the bottomless money pit called Obamacare, they have racked up debt at an unprecedented rate, they have flooded the country with illegal people who are draining our social services and they have decimated our military, just to mention a few things.
