TV Land pulls Dukes of Hazzard because, you know, that's a Confederate flag on the General Lee

TV Land pulls Dukes of Hazzard becauseIn case you're wondering just how powerful a wave of social media-driven hysteria can get, TV Land has your answer. This all started, of course, when that Confederate flag walked into a church in Charleston and shot those nine people. That's why you can no longer watch the Duke boys, Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltraine and Boss Hogg.

Because:
TV Land has pulled reruns of Dukes of Hazzard in light of the recent uproar over the Confederate flag, which is emblazoned on the roof of the show's iconic General Lee 1969 Dodge Charger, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The show has faced criticism over the depiction of the controversial flag in the wake of the June 17 shooting in Charleston that left nine dead, and what many viewed as South Carolina's delayed decision to take the flag down. Confederate merchandise has since been dropped by Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon and other businesses after the shooting, which took place at a historic black church. Shortly after the attack, photos surfaced showing alleged shooter Dylann Roof burning one American flag and stepping on another, while waving and posing provocatively with Confederate banners. Warner Bros.' consumer division announced on June 24 that it will stop licensing toy cars and models featuring the General Lee with the flag.
Idiocy knows no bounds. Here's a thought: As much as I have no use for the Confederate flag, I have even less use for the obsession with symbols in the aftermath of an act of evil. The Confederate flag didn't make Dylann Roof kill those people. He did it because he's evil. Maybe we need to pull every show from TV that depicts evil, if that's now the way we're going to look at these things. Not only are we blaming symbols for things done by people, we're apparently also surrendering the option of ever laughing at anything. Have you ever watched the Dukes of Hazzard? Regardless of whether it's your brand of humor, the idea that there's a serious theme of any kind being put forward is so ridiculous, it simply boggles the mind that TV Land really thought this was a worthwhile move in any way. This country has become so damn stupid, I don't even know what to say about it anymore.
