UK sniper took out four ISIS killers from a mile away as they prepared to set 12 hostages on fire

This reminds me of an NCIS episode in which Gibbs takes out a wise-mouthed terrorist just before he's about to kill DiNozzo, McGee and Ziva. Gibbs is on a mountain top at least a mile away with a high-powered rifle, and he puts a bullet right through the bad guy's forehead. Amazing. But it's TV. No one can really do that, can they? Well. Yes. Apparently they can. But this sniper took a different approach. As 12 ISIS hostages were about to be torched alive with flamethrowers, the sniper aimed at a fuel tank on the main executioner's back - striking it, blowing it up and taking out four ISIS thugs in the process. And yes, he did it from a mile way. Beautiful:

The British Special Air Service marksman turned one of the most hated terrorists in Syria into a fireball by using a Barett .50-caliber rifle to strike a fuel tank affixed to the jihadi’s back, the UK’s Daily Star reported Sunday. The pack exploded, killing the sadistic terrorist and three of his flunkies, who were supposed to film the execution, last month, the paper said. The ISIS butcher — who reportedly delighted in burning hostages alive — had been on a US “kill list” for several months, sources told the paper, which did not identify the sniper or the executioner. He and his band of wicked men had been traveling around ISIS-held compounds in Syria slaughtering civilians labeled as spies. Their prisoners were tied to stakes or thrown in cages before being torched by the executioner, according to the report. ISIS started using flamethrowers after the torture method was popularized in North Korea.

The ISIS killer was so feared that his victims would beg to be shot rather than be set on fire. Just before the sniper rescue operation outside of Raqqa, Syria, “the SAS team moved into an overwatch position above a village where they were told the execution was going to take place,” a source told the Star. “Up to 12 civilians were going to be murdered — eight men and four women. “The executioner gave some sort of rambling speech . . . then when he finished, the SAS sniper opened fire,” the source said. The captives were then rescued by British and US special forces.

Needless to say, I have questions about some of the details. I don't doubt there are good answers. I just don't know what they are. For instance, why was the sniper's best position a mile away? Why was it necessary to let the killers get so close to actually killing the hostages before the sniper fired? Was there nothing the special forces could have done in the meantime? How close were they? Was it a matter of the ISIS guys needing to be dead because they would have surely killed the hostages upon seeing anyone rushing the scene? I ask not as a skeptic or a critic, but just as a layman who has never done this kind of work and doesn't know all the tactical ins and outs. Whatever the answers, the result is wonderful and everyone involved is to be commended. Hopefully those newly freed hostages are soon reunited with their families and they're grateful to God for the second chance in life they're getting. Well done, everyone. Oh, by the way, if we can locate ISIS like we did in this situation, then let's have more snipers ready to pick them off one by one - until the only thing left of ISIS is the carcasses of these bastards, which we can then pick up and burn like they would have done to their innocent victims.
