WINNIPEG: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) released a new tool for voters today – a “Voter’s Contract.” Available at VotersContract.ca, the downloadable document can be used by voters in upcoming municipal elections to hold candidates accountable.
Voters can print the contract off the CTF’s web site and then pull it out when a candidate knocks on their door. They can then ask the candidate to initial things they would do before simply hiking property taxes or creating new taxes. Eager voters could even track candidates down at their campaign offices.
“When you vote for a candidate you’re essentially hiring them for a job,” said CTF Prairie Director Colin Craig. “The contract requires candidates to put their signature beside initiatives they would pursue before simply hiking property taxes.”

The voter’s contract is available in two formats – one for Winnipeg voters and one for voters outside of Winnipeg.
