Prophet of Doom Joe Romm: How the Grinch stole Halloween

Not content to let even a minor holiday go by, our favorite alarmist Joe Romm has set his sites on Halloween, with his inelegant attempt to show how it can be "greener." Traditionally it has been a night where children dress up as zombies, ghouls, barbies, and cowboys, partake in trick-or-treating, costume parties, and for those lucky enough, a visit to Salem, Mass.

At least, that's what it should be. According to Romm's latest post, even that should be green-ified, and the only scarifying should be at our children's expense.

…when you see kids out trick-or-treating tonight … please consider these lines from the nation’s top climate scientist: … the most serious effects will be visited upon the young and the unborn, the generations that bear no responsibility for the problem.

In Romm's spooky world, it's all about the children. Forget allowing them one night a year to partake in gobs of candy, scary stories, playing dress up, hitting up the local haunted attractions, or better yet, fleeing past a cemetery before the undead awake! That was the old Halloween. The new Halloween is all about the earth becoming a wasteland of uncaring inhabitants where the planet would be better off if we were six feet under.. While there's nothing wrong with recycling and reusing, he just can't help himself:

I think that being a grade-A paranoia peddler is so ingrained in his DNA that he can't even have a blog post about a greener Halloween without the usual Chicken Little theatrics.
